Next Thursday, DocsBarcelona del Mes premieres A Better Man. A courageous film by Canadian filmmaker Attiya Khan and the director Lawrence Jackman, about violence against women and a new paradigm of prevention called restorative justice.
Attiya faces her ex-boyfriend, who mistreated her when she was young and 20 years later; ending their relationship and ending the abuses, she decides to organize a meeting, that helps her as therapy to heal emotionally and overcome the ghosts of the past.

After the screening, a colloquium will take place, in which Carolina Palau; coordinator of the Mens Service Attention for the promotion of Non – Violent relations (SAH), Gisela Quer, sociologist and currently responsible for gender violence, gender equity and LGTBI in the Surt Foundation, and Anna Passarell, psychologist at the Surt Foundation and currently works in therapeutic recovery processes of surviving women of sexist violence, will participate.
The dialogue takes place, at a time when the feminist debate is at the forefront of the media, following the March 8 strike and the recent news of the case “La Manada”
According to the Ministry of Health, last year there were 51 women murdered by their boyfriends or ex -boyfriends; more than 2016.
A subject that leads us to reflect about the efforts of an important part of the population that want a general mentality change, but they has not been succeed to definitively finish this problem that is the male violence.
A Better Man will premiere at the Aribau Club of Barcelona (Gran Vía de las Cortes Catalanas, 565) on Thursday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m.
